Piano is a low marble piece that works as a bench or a coffee table, made from reclaimed stone and oak and built without glue. The quiet look hides a long process. We start from marble left over from other work, cut the parts on the machine we program, then finish each face by hand in a honed matte, which is where the hours go. We join everything with screws rather than adhesive, so it ships flat and assembles at home, and it holds up indoors or out.
Because the stone is reclaimed, each Piano carries the colour of the block it came from, so no two land the same. We set the marble against oak details and let the two materials do the rest.
