Ita is stone, yby is earth. Itayby is both, and you sit on it.
Itayby is a bench made in one piece of Stonesis, with a low back over the seat and an arch opened between two solid legs. Its name joins two Tupi words, ita, stone, and yby, earth.
Stonesis is the composite we make from the waste of cutting natural stone, with marble aggregates bound in, resined in colour and honed. We machine the bench from a single block and finish it by hand. The aggregates fall differently in every block, so no two benches are alike, and at about 106 kg it stays where you put it.
