Moon
A full circle of stone, edged thin as a blade.
Moon is a round marble coffee table on a lacquered steel base, its rim cut down to a thin, blade-like edge so the heavy disc reads light from the side. We named it for the only natural satellite we have and kept it to one clean circle, letting the stone carry the piece. The trick is the rim, which we thin down to the profile of an airplane wing, so a full disc of marble looks lighter than it weighs.
We work the base from a single piece of steel and lacquer it in a satin gun-metal tone. The top we finish by hand in a honed matte, bringing that edge back until the circle seems to hover on the metal.

- A warm brown marble with lighter veining that runs through the stone.
