Haus
Stone, made to look like it is still moving.
Haus is a long coffee table in black travertine carried on a steel base, the stone cut so its surface seems to flow rather than sit still. We set that fluid stonework against the hard line of the metal to see how far the travertine will go before it breaks. The shape comes off the diamond wire we run, and then we bring the surface back by hand in an open-pore honed matte, which is where the hours go.
We leave the pores open so the movement of the stone stays visible along the length of the top. The steel feet we lacquer in a satin gun-metal tone, low and quiet under the block.
