Clock
A side table that tells the hour in negative space.
Clock is a round side table with a stone top on solid turned-wood legs, the stone pierced by twenty cut-outs arranged like the markings on a clock face. The holes are the whole idea, so we pierce them clean through to lighten a heavy material and let the wood read behind the stone. We match the wood to each stone, so top and legs settle as one piece.
We rough the top out on the 5-axis machine we program, then finish it by hand in a honed matte, and we turn the legs from solid wood. The smaller version of the same idea, with sixteen cut-outs, is the Clock S.
Clock S is the smaller Clock, a round stone side table on solid turned-wood legs with sixteen cut-outs pierced through the top instead of twenty. We drop it to forty centimetres so it sits lower and closer, beside a chair or a bed, where the larger Clock would crowd the room. We keep the same logic here, holes that lighten the stone and let the wood show.

- A warm cream to beige stone, open-pored, with characteristic veining and small mineral inclusions, on solid oak legs that pick up its natural tone.
- Nero Marquina
- A deep black marble with fine white veining, set on solid River Black Oak so the dark wood carries the dark stone.
- Gris Alvito
- A Portuguese stone of dark grey and brown hues speckled with grey, brown and silver veining, on solid walnut legs.
- Grey Kendzo
- A dark grey marble with distinct white veining, on solid walnut legs for a quieter contrast.
Good to know
Why does the Clock have holes in it?
The top is pierced with twenty cut-outs arranged like the face of a clock. They lighten the stone and let the colour of the wood legs read through.
What are the legs made of?
Solid turned wood, chosen to match each stone: oak for Travertine, River Black Oak for Nero Marquina, walnut for Gris Alvito and Grey Kendzo.
What is the difference between Clock and Clock S?
Size and the number of cut-outs. Clock is the larger table with twenty cut-outs; Clock S is smaller with sixteen.
