Atir

Atir is a wall-mounted console cut from a single block of marble, balanced on one slim milled-metal leg. We built it around that single leg, because it gives the piece a deliberate sense of imbalance, as if the stone were caught mid-tilt and we held it there. Inside we work in a slim drawer, a shelf and the top, enough quiet storage for an entrance or a hallway.

We take the top down from one block with a diamond wire, then bring the surface back by hand to a honed matte, which is where the hours go. We turn the single leg in gun-metal lacquered steel and mount the console partway into the wall, so the leg carries the look while the wall carries the weight.
