Ellipse
An oval long enough to lose the corners.
Ellipse is a long elliptical coffee table, a stretched oval of marble or limestone resting on solid turned-wood feet. At a metre and a half it draws a soft, cornerless line through a seating area. We match each stone to the colour of the wood beneath it, so the top and the feet read as a single warm object. The top is shaped on the 5-axis machine we program, then we finish it by hand in a honed matte, which is where the hours go.
We turn the feet from solid wood and lacquer them to tone, pairing a lighter foot with a lighter stone and a darker one where the top runs deep. Read the block first, set the cut, and the long oval stays even from end to end.

- A classic Portuguese white marble, soft and warm in tone, on a light ivory wood foot.
- Estremoz Lagoa
- A Portuguese marble in cool grey tones, on a pearl-beige wood foot.
- Moleanos
- A Portuguese limestone, soft and pale, in cream and beige tones, on a pearl-beige wood foot.
- Breccia Deja
- A grey breccia from Albania with darker movement, on a dark wood foot for contrast.

What shape is the Ellipse?

Is the top marble or limestone?
Both, depending on the stone. Estremoz and Estremoz Lagoa are marbles, Moleanos is a Portuguese limestone, and Breccia Deja is a grey breccia from Albania.
What are the feet made of?
Solid turned wood, lacquered in a tone matched to each stone.
Who designed the Ellipse?
The white Estremoz version was designed by Fábio Teixeira; the Estremoz Lagoa, Moleanos and Breccia Deja versions by the TCC Industrial Design Studio.
