Unir
A washbasin made from the dust the marble left behind.
Unir is a washbasin made from Stonesis, a material we developed from our own marble waste, the slurry, powder and chips left over from cutting stone. We build it as the union of five parts, three bases, a bowl and a lid, joined with invisible seams and internal stainless-steel fasteners, so it can be assembled, taken apart and recycled again. The name says what we set out to do: to unite.
We mix Stonesis at roughly three quarters recovered marble by-product to one quarter binder, so a basin that would normally start from a fresh block instead starts from what we would have thrown away. We machine the parts from our own programming, then finish the surfaces by hand, and ship it in packaging without plastic from a process we keep close to zero waste.

What is Stonesis?
A material developed by Maami Home and TCC Whitestone from recovered marble waste, up to about three quarters marble by-product bound in a cementitious matrix, so the basin is made largely from stone that would otherwise be discarded.
Is the Unir sustainable?
Yes. It is built around the circular economy: made from recycled marble waste, assembled from five parts with internal fasteners so it can be taken apart and recycled, and shipped in plastic-free packaging from a near zero-waste process.
