Fibi
The stone stays put. The light goes where you tilt it.
Fibi is a table lamp by Urszula Sośnierz: a base cut from a single piece of marble, under a wide, very thin aluminium shade that tilts and turns all the way round. The base stands 28 cm tall, with a rounded foot, a body that narrows as it rises and a short cylindrical collar at the top. At seven kilos, the lamp stays where you put it while the 40 cm shade leans out to one side.
The marble does not light up. The LED sits inside the collar, under a recessed acrylic disc, and shines up onto the underside of the shade, which is matte white and sends the light back down. Tilt the shade and the pool of light moves across the table or up the wall. The light is dimmable and always warm, at 2700 K. We make Fibi in Rosso Alicante marble, with the shade painted terracotta to go with the stone.
By stone
- Rosso Alicante
- Rosso Alicante is a red marble from the Alicante region of Spain, orange-red with fine white veins and small grey specks. On this version the shade and the ball at its centre are painted terracotta.
Good to know
Does the light pass through the marble?
No. The marble base of the Fibi is opaque. The light comes from an LED inside the top of the base, reflects off the underside of the shade and falls back down.
Does the shade of the Fibi move?
Yes. The shade tilts and turns through 360 degrees, so you can send the light onto the table, towards a wall or away from your eyes.
How big is the Fibi?
The Fibi is 37 cm tall, with a shade 40 cm across on a marble base 28 cm tall and 12 cm across. It weighs 7 kg.
What light source does the Fibi use?
A dimmable 10 W LED with a warm 2700 K light and 1250 lumens. The Fibi is a corded lamp.
Who designed the Fibi?
The Fibi was designed by Urszula Sośnierz for Maami Home.
