Storm

Storm is a low sideboard with sculpted marble doors on tapered solid-oak legs, the stonework cut and shaped so a heavy material reads visually light. We keep the lines simple and let the doors carry the detail, a piece we made to show how far marble can be worked.

We veneer the oak body over a wood structure and stand it on a solid oak base. The doors we machine from our own programming, sculpting the marble to take the visual weight out of it, then bring the surface back by hand in a honed matte. Cutting a heavy stone so it reads light is the whole point, and where the hours go.

Storm Wood turns the Storm around, mostly wood with a single marble panel as the accent. Drawn from 1950s furniture, it carries two doors and a drawer in simple lines that gently challenge the eye. We made it the warmer, more wood-led member of the Storm family, one panel of stone set to catch the light.
