Data
The stone is the view, the glass just frames it.
Data Tall is a side table with a shaped travertine base under a clear glass top, so you look down through the glass into the hollows and open pores of the stone. We took the form from the shape of an old stamp, and we leave the travertine to show its natural excavation marks rather than hide them. The clear top is there to reveal the stone, not to cover it.
We rough the base out on the 5-axis machine we program, then finish it by hand, and set an extra-clear tempered glass top over it. We made it to stand beside its lower sibling, the Data Low coffee table.
Data Low is a low round coffee table with a carved black-travertine base under a clear glass top, so you look down through the glass into the open, excavated surface of the stone. We took the shape from an old stamp, the same form the taller Data Tall grew from, and we leave the travertine's natural hollows open rather than filling them, so the pores read straight through the glass. The block roughs out on the 5-axis machine we program, then we finish the surface by hand, which is where the hours go.

- A light, warm travertine, open-pored, with soft veining, the cream tones reading clearly through the glass.

- Warm browns and greys through to black, open-pored, a darker reading of the same carved form under the clear top.

Is the top glass or stone?
Both. A clear glass top sits over a carved travertine base, so you see down through the glass into the hollows of the stone.
What is the difference between Data Tall and Data Low?
Height and use. Data Tall is the side table, Data Low the coffee table. They share the same travertine-and-glass idea.
Which stones can I choose?
Carrara Travertine, a light warm stone, or Black Travertine, in warm browns, greys and black.
