Doric
A column from a Greek temple, hollowed into a washbasin.
Doric is the first cylindrical freestanding washbasin in the Maami Home bath collection, named for the Doric column, the first style of Classical Greek architecture. We took the idea of the column literally and stood the basin on the floor as one continuous piece of stone, so it holds the middle of a bathroom the way a column holds a room.
We work a single block in four parts, machining each from our own programming on the 5-axis, then bring the surfaces back by hand in a honed matte. Because the whole column comes from one block, the veining runs unbroken from the top to the base.

- Grigio Nuvolato
- A grey marble with soft cloud-like veining, so the column reads as one quiet, cloudy grey piece of stone.
- Estremoz Pardais
- A Portuguese white marble with fine grey veining, lighter and warmer, a paler column with soft movement running through it.

What shape is the Doric?

What stones is the Doric available in?
Two marbles: Grigio Nuvolato, a grey marble with soft cloud-like veining, and Estremoz Pardais, a Portuguese white marble with fine grey veining.
Does the Doric need sealing?
Yes. The Doric is carved from natural marble, so it should be sealed on installation and resealed periodically to protect the stone from water and staining.
What tap setup does it take?
The Doric is a freestanding column basin, so it takes a wall-mounted tap or a freestanding floor-mounted tap rather than a tap set into the stone.
How does it drain?
Through a waste in the base of the basin that runs down inside the column to the floor outlet.
