Moriawase
A bamboo board with two pieces of marble set into it.
Moriawase is a bamboo serving tray with two small marble trays, one round and one square, set into the board so they nest flush. We machine the bamboo and the two stone trays from our own programming, then finish the marble by hand and size the recesses so each tray drops in level with the board. It works as a serving piece or a decorative object, the warm bamboo carrying the cool stone.
