MAAMI HOME The story behind Piano

The story behind Piano

Piano is our latest release. Every piece we create is special to the MAAMI team, but the development of this particular piece represented a great challenge for the team; from design to production, through to the packaging and logistics process. We talk on a daily basis about how we can make a positive impact on the world and what we should do as representatives of an industry that is both traditional and yet also constantly changing. It is therefore not surprising that a single object may have taken more than two years to develop. Time is also a raw material that we work with every day and Piano is just one example of a carefully thought-out object, that we took the time to create.

Piano is an upcycled piece and as such it reflects our conscious effort to reuse the marble slabs that originally formed part of another object and would otherwise be wasted if we didn't upcycle them.  Giving these marble slabs a new lease of life is taken seriously at Maami Home and we wanted Piano to represent our position on sustainability from start to finish.

Piano is an extremely versatile piece. It can be used as a coffee table or as a bench and it is extremely simple to assemble - you only need screws!  Piano has been designed with environmentally-concsious delivery and arrives completely disassembled, in a flat package, thus reducing its CO2 footprint. This packaging is also part of the eco-friendly product development process that is an integral part of MAAMI HOME's design and development process, as such Piano is therefore a 100% plastic-free product.

We chose this time of year as the perfect time for us to launch this piece, as it is designed to be used both indoors and outdoors. We think it is perfect for spring and hot summer days.

Piano combines oak and Kunis Brescia marble beautifully. It is also available in Carrara, Marquina, Estremoz, Arabescato, Calacatta Viola or Tundra Grey.
